Essen action

in Less about games

Do you want to meet me at Essen? It’s starting to look likely I’ll be attending the BoardGameGeek meet at the restaurant Istra. The meeting is, I gather, Thursday around 18.15-18.30. Well, that’s when I’m going, but maybe it’s a good idea to check the facts at the Sunriver booth.

I’m also probably hanging around the IGA awards presentation at the Days of Wonder booth. That’s Friday, at 17.00.

Here’s a picture of me. I look almost like that (it’s a year old photo), but I’m not wearing a suit at the fair… More likely a striped shirt, grey or green pants and a backpack.

Ive enjoyed reading your blog and am returning to Essen this year after a 6 year break (1999). I enjoy playing games but dont need t go every year! Will either attend the Istra or definitely the IGA awards so Ill say hello. I’ll be recognisable by the white Leeds United shirt (English football team) Ill wear. Staying with some friends in the IBIS which is some distance from the fair.
regards
Keith

Lazy October Notes

Like Iain, I never really got El Caballero. I played it a few times and then sold it. Too bad, if I had held onto it for a few years, it would have really …

Mikko, have you heard or played Keythedral? It’s been out for a while, but I only took a closer look at it today and I like what I see, but I’m trying to get some more info on it. I’m contemplating purchasing Ra or Keythedral now and it will be my last purchase until Christmas (Tempus better be out by then), so I’m considering this decision carefully.

No, I haven’t… Haven’t been to Helsinki lately, where all my Keythedral-owning buddies are. To be honest, I’m not too interested. It might be nice, but hey, so are quite a few other games… It’s not that high on my list of games to try.
Ra is pretty nifty.

Okay, thanks. But I have yet to find a negative opinion of it (or Ra for that matter).
